Just know this book will make you cry. I mean CRY. I think I was crying my page 16 and almost never stopped. So if you aren't into a book that tragedy after tragedy then don't pick this one up.
However, if you're like me and sometimes you need a book that will emotionally destroy you from the inside out leaving nothing but kleenex and puffy, red eyes in its wake - then do pick this one up.
Chaos and Ella start their romance simply through letters. Chaos is in special ops with her brother and he somehow convinces them to become penpals. Tragedy number one hits when Ella find outs one of her twins has cancer. Tragedy number two hits when her brother dies in combat. Ryans last letter was to Chaos - asking him to please go home and take care of his sister because she can't fight this battle on her own. Fast forward through the normal "she's an independent woman and doesn't need him" scenario and they fall in love. The two of them help fight Maisies cancer and do really all they can in order to get her through it. Including having Chaos adopt the kids so she can be on his insurance and they can afford her millions of dollars in treatments. This little girl and her twin brother HAVE MY HEART. Sometimes I cried just from their sibling bond and how little kids can so logically accept big tragedies. I loved this whole family. Yarros nailed the small town wholesome family aspect without overdoing it. Maisie makes it through her treatments and surgeries holding her brothers hand and eventually is in remission. All is well right? No. Tragedy number 3 coming at you strong when .... well just kidding I'm not ruining this one for you.
I personally loved this book, but I also love a good cry. Ya know sometimes you need to let it out. I can't wait to read what else Rebecca Yarros has for us!
